Scholarship Policy

The college offers a Scholarship program to support deserving and economically disadvantaged students. Merit-based and need-based scholarships help provide financial aid, ensuring that all students have access to quality education and resources.

VEL College of Education is committed to providing equitable educational opportunities to all students, including those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. To support this mission, the college offers scholarships for SC/ST students, subject to government regulations and conditions. Below is a detailed draft of the scholarship policy.

  • Scholarships are available for SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe) students who are enrolled in the B.Ed. program at VEL College of Education.
  • Candidates must belong to the SC or ST category as recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Proof of category (such as a Community Certificate) must be submitted during the admission process for verification.
  • The scholarship provision is subject to the guidelines and conditions set forth by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The college adheres to these government regulations to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Any updates, changes, or amendments to the government’s scholarship policy will be implemented accordingly. Students will be informed of any changes in eligibility criteria or benefits as per the latest government directives.
  • Eligible students must apply for the scholarship through the prescribed application form available at the College Office. The application form can also be downloaded from the college website.
  • Students are required to submit the following documents along with the application
  • Community Certificate (SC/ST Certificate) issued by the competent authority.
  • Income Certificate to verify eligibility based on economic criteria (if applicable).
  • Academic Certificates and other relevant documents as specified in the application form.
  • Incomplete or inaccurate applications may result in delays or rejection of the scholarship application. Students are advised to ensure that all details are correctly filled and supported with the necessary documents.
  • The disbursement of the scholarship amount will be carried out in accordance with the Government of Tamil Nadu’s scholarship scheme for SC/ST students. The scholarship may cover a portion of tuition fees, books, and other educational expenses as per the government’s allocation.
  • The scholarship funds will be transferred directly to the student’s bank account or credited towards their college fee account, depending on the scheme’s guidelines.
  • Students who receive the scholarship must maintain the required academic performance and adhere to the college’s rules and regulations to continue receiving benefits.
  • The renewal of the scholarship for subsequent semesters is contingent upon academic performance and attendance as per the college and government requirements.
  • Students who fail to meet the minimum criteria may lose their scholarship benefits for the following semester or academic year.
  • The scholarship is subject to availability and allocation of funds from the Government of Tamil Nadu. In case of any policy changes or budgetary constraints at the government level, the college may have to adjust or suspend the scholarship provisions accordingly.
  • VEL College of Education is committed to assisting students in the scholarship application process and will provide necessary support and guidance. However, the final approval and disbursement are governed by the authorities managing the scholarship scheme.
